"Honoring the men
and women of Effingham County who have
served on active duty during the time of the Revolutionary War,
Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Viet Nam and Gulf
wars"
How does one say, 'Thank you" to those who gave so
much in order that all of us are able to live in a free land. In
Effingham County, GA we did so by creating a special park in
their honor and memory. It's our way of letting our veterans know
that we will never forget them and the sacrifices that they made.
Located in Springfield, GA at the
intersection of Highway 21 and First Street, the Veteran's Park of
Effingham County was started in 2001 and was completed in 2003.
But, in a sense, it will never be completed.
As long as there are men and women who are serving our country, the Park
will continue to grow and be a tribute.
All individuals born in Effingham County or who lived
here during time of service or who now live in Effingham County and who meet
the criteria at the top of this page are eligible to be listed. A special section of
the park pays tribute to those who gave their lives in these wars.
The Park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week
throughout the year. There is no admission charge. The Park
is handicap accessible. We hope that you will stop by and visit
this tribute to our veterans. Enjoy a tour of the Park.
Relax on one of the many benches. Reflect on the value of freedom
and the sacrifices that so many have made in freedom's name.
